Thanksgiving is steadily approaching and I’m curious to know what will be on your menu! I  really love to cook and I also love staples like turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese, but that menu can get a little boring. I love desserts too……yes I do! At any rate, I’ve been wandering these internet highways and byways and have found a few recipes that are fail safe. Maybe you’ll want to incorporate them into your Thanksgiving spread!

Mashed Sweet Potatoes are a great alternative to a sweet potato pie (I love sweet potato pie). In my house we have it regularly because I just love sweet potatoes!

Banana Pudding Cupcakes from Diva’s Can Cook. My husband ask me to make these cupcakes over and over again. My mom asked me if I was making them the next time she came to Virginia to see me. If you love banana pudding, you’ll love these cupcakes. It’s always nice to have something that’s a departure from the norm. Everyone will thank you!

7up Pound Cake! Most people I know have someone in their family that makes a great pound cake and this one is very moist and dense. A great dessert for after you’ve had your meal. I mean, who doesn’t love cake?

Cornish hens are a great addition to Thanksgiving. In my opinion, Cornish hens are more tender than chicken or turkey and if you don’t have too many guest, it would be ideal to serve them whole or half of a Cornish hen.

Ok, your turn!!  Tell me what you’re cooking for Thanksgiving and let me know if you’re doing anything different or if you’re going to stick with the staples.

Great post! Although I’m not cooking for Thanksgiving because we will be traveling, I do plan on (eventually) making the banana pudding cupcakes because they sound delicious. My husband’s grandmother makes the best collard greens and sweet potato pies, so I can’t wait to tear into those!

Thanks ladybug, but if you change your mind about bringing something I can certainly provide my address…lol!!! Honestly, I might have to make some sweet potato pies because I love them so much! I eat my pie with my food, not as a dessert. Also, I need to get a good collard green recipe. πŸ™‚ Thanks for coming by! πŸ™‚

Thanks for coming by and for the encouragement!!

  • I have not had cornish hens in a very long time. Now, I need to consider that as a menu option one of these days. I absolutely love banana pudding so, the cup cakes, yeah, I can rock those too!

Last year, we did various types of gumbo’s and jambalaya, etc. It was different and yummy.

This year, I have not really considered the menu, but, it has to be something non-traditional as I love being creative and fun, even with my dining options.

    Great post Emerald!
