Have You Tried The Oil Cleansing Method?

I love to pamper myself with luscious creams and cleansers, but when it comes to my face, I try to be careful about what I put on it. I was caught off guard when one of my followers on Twitter (@pentherapee) told me about the Oil Cleansing Method. I was thinking, “how in the world is oil going to clean my skin, when I’m trying to get the oil out of my skin?” She referred me to a video and from there my journey began. I started googling researching the oil cleansing  method to find how many other people have tried it. There are a lot. I have natural oils on hand because I love to create stuff, so I looked up a recipe for combination skin.

The recipe that I found just asked that I use 1 teaspoon of castor oil and 1/2 teaspoon of almond oil. I have seen a variety of variations and a good place to look for some recipes is on Wellness Mama.

To be honest, I expected my skin to break out immediately. I mean c’mon, I’m putting pure unadulterated oil on my face. So I massaged the oil into my dry face in circular motions for a few minutes. Then I used a hot washcloth to remove the oil from my skin. After my face had dried, I noticed that it was a bit softer than usual. So I’ve done the O.C.M. for about a week now and a few problem areas on my skin have actually cleared up! I’m going to continue to use it because I know exactly what’s going on my face. Juices and berries. All natural oils. It definitely can’t hurt to try it out. I’ve seen a lot of testimonies online of women who swear by the O.C.M. Would you ever try it? Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever tried it before, and what were your results.

  • I tried an oil cleanser from Origins and it broke me out. BAD! I bet it wasn’t pure oils though. Still, I’m a little scared since I had pimples for weeks. Glad it’s working for you. πŸ™‚
