About Me

Welcome to Pink Balloons for Lunch! I’m truly grateful that you’re here. Everyone has a story and if you have a few minutes, I’d like to share a little of mine. After graduating college with a degree in English, I got married and my husband and I moved to Japan for 3 years. (Talk about transitions, yeesh!) I taught English as a Second Language at a Japanese school. I made so many friends and one of my conference students (Yoko) came to visit me after she had flown back home! A year before we left, I found out I was pregnant with my daughter Chloe. I never imagined how much becoming a mother would change me. I went from seeing the world through my own eyes, to being mainly concerned about Chloe. Being a mother and wife is a balancing act for sure, but I wouldn’t trade my little family for anything.

We moved back to the U.S. and I realized that I wanted to be home with Chloe. I went through mixed feelings because I had worked hard to get my degree, and I was determined to use it! I started out ghost writing blog post for a handbag designer, then I got a fashion writer gig at a magazine. I even interviewed some celebrities! A few years later, I had my son Drew. He has this naturally sunny disposition that’s absolutely contagious. If you met him, you’d love him!
Back to Pink Balloons For Lunch! So I decided that since I wasn’t working a typical 9 to 5 that I had to find a way to connect with other women and that’s where the idea for a blog blossomed. The “pink balloons,” addressed my fascination with home and décor and the “lunch,” expressed my love for food! (Get in my belly!) Along with my blog, I’ve written for interior design magazines and brands as well as some pretty awesome food and drink publications. I’ve served as an editor, so I also use the technical side of my brain. My 5th grade teacher (Mrs. Best) told me that I had a gift for writing and I appreciate her instilling that confidence in me, because it has served me well!

So that’s my story!  It’s been almost 3 years since I started Pink Balloons For Lunch and I’ve been busy sharing easy-to-make recipes, eco-friendly life solutions, health and wellness advice as well as home and decor tips. My specialty falls under the lifestyle umbrella — decor, design, food and entertainment. Pink Balloons For Lunch has worked with brands such as Mitsubishi, Mazda, Ace Hardware, Wantable, Marc Jacobs Beauty and Mode Media to name a few.
